Selena Gomez is set to take on a significant role in the biopic of legendary musician Linda Ronstadt, confirming the news through her Instagram stories on Friday. In a heartfelt post, the 31-year-old singer expressed her excitement, sharing a screenshot of Deadline’s report and stating, “I have no words to describe my heart for this project… years of hoping this dream would become my reality.”

Selena’s second Instagram story featured a black-and-white image of Linda Ronstadt, with a caption expressing admiration for Linda’s heart and soul in life and music. The 77-year-old music icon reposted Selena’s story on her own account, adding pink hearts to show her approval and support.

The news of Selena’s casting was initially disclosed by Linda Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, earlier in the month. The biopic will be produced by Boylan and James Keach, known for producing Linda’s 2019 documentary “The Sound of My Voice” and the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line.” The acclaimed director David O. Russell will helm the project, although the movie’s title and additional cast members are yet to be revealed.

The official announcement on the project’s website states, “The long-rumored Linda Ronstadt biopic is now up-and-running. Selena Gomez is attached to play Linda.”
