Netflix has enlisted Thandiwe Newton to join the ensemble cast for the upcoming season of the popular drama series “Wednesday.” Variety reports that the streaming service has expanded the cast by adding the British star, although specific details about her role remain a secret.

Produced by Tim Burton, a pioneer of gothic culture in film, the show is set to begin filming its sequel later this month. This news follows the announcement that Steve Buscemi is also joining the series, reportedly as Nevermore Academy’s principal.

Newton, known for her roles in shows like “The Slap” and “Human Resources,” as well as films like “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “Beloved,” will bring her acting prowess to this acclaimed horror comedy series.

The original cast, including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Emma Myers, Isaac Ordonez, Gwendoline Christie, Fred Armisen, and Jenna Ortega reprising her role as the titular character, has already garnered four Emmy Awards.
